The Season of Styx Malone by Kekla Magoon
Caleb Franklin and his big brother Bobby Gene have the whole summer for adventures in the woods behind their house in Sutton, Indiana. Caleb would like to venture further but their dad wants them close to home. Then, they meet new neighbor Styx Malone. He’s sixteen, mysterious, and oozes cool. He introduces Caleb and Bobby Gene to the Great Escalator Trade—exchanging one thing for something better until they achieve their wildest dream. As the trades get bigger, the brothers are soon in over their heads. There may be more to Styx than meets the eye, and it’s not all good.
