Experience the compositional techniques and structures at play within humpback whale song in this vocal workshop led by vocalist, composer, and cantor Daniela Gesundheit in conversation with the groundbreaking work of acoustic biologist Katy Payne (Songs of the Humpback Whale). Through leaderless collaboration and experimentation, we will apprentice ourselves to the vocalizations of the world’s largest broadcasting mammals to see what we might discover about group identity, distance, competition, innovation, and empathy.
