Family Fare: Weave Your Own Miniature Tapestry
Ages 6 to 12 with accompanying adult(s)
-
With artist Anne Wolf
Sculptor, installation, and community artist Anne Wolf works with fiber, cloth, clay, and found materials. Her belief that art can heal has led her to partner with San Francisco’s Zen Hospice Project and the Emeryville Youth Art Program. Anne teaches textiles at California College of the Arts.
After viewing BAMPFA’s current Art Wall installation, If you are hit on the head with a kaleidoscope does that mean you see stars?, learn how crossed threads become cloth through the process of weaving. Using a loom, colorful yarn, and simple tapestry techniques, create your own, one-of-a-kind miniature “yarn painting” with multimedia artist Anne Wolf.
Sign up onsite beginning fifteen minutes before the session you wish to attend. Be advised that space is limited to 12 kids per session; please arrive promptly to sign up.
About Family Fare:
On the second Saturday of each month, Family Fare connects art viewing with art making in ways that engage both young people and their grown-ups. In each session, families participate in guided viewing and discussion in the galleries with a UC Berkeley graduate-student guide. Then, they explore related ideas in the Art Lab with an experienced teaching artist. Each session focuses on a different group of artworks and related hands-on activities.
