Join us in celebrating the publication of At Third and Mission: A Life Among Artists, a memoir by longtime Bay Area museum curator Renny Pritikin. Pritikin will read from his new book and converse with East Bay poet Brandon Brown. Copies of Pritikin’s book will be available for purchase and signing by the author immediately following the event.

At Third and Mission is a 150-page hardcover book with fifty photographs illustrating Pritikin’s stories about working with artists at New Langton Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Nelson Gallery at UC Davis, and The Contemporary Jewish Museum between 1979 and 2018.

Pritikin taught curatorial practice in the graduate program at California College for the Arts for over a decade. He gave a lecture tour in museums throughout New Zealand as a Fulbright scholar and toured Israel as a winner of the Koret Israel Prize. He is also the author of six books of poetry, and since retiring, he has been an art critic for squarecylinder.com and the US correspondent for Umbigo art magazine in Lisbon, Portugal. He lives in Oakland with his wife, Judy Moran.

Brandon Brown is the author of several books, most recently Work (Atelos) and The Four Seasons (Wonder). He was the recipient of a fellowship in poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts, and in 2018 he was awarded the inaugural Toni Beauchamp Prize in Critical Art Writing. For almost a decade, he has been one of the editors at Krupskaya Books. Later this year, Free Poetry will publish his translation of the twelfth-century troubadour Raimbaut d'Aurenga, Joy Is My Hotel. He lives in Richmond, California.
