Artist's Talk: Aaron Marcus: Typography Dreaming
In conjunction with his current exhibition at BAMPFA, noted graphic designer, artist, and author Aaron Marcus presents an illustrated lecture about his experimental visible language design.
Engaged with signs, symbols, and typographic compositions for more than sixty-five years, Marcus was the first graphic designer to work full time with computers (1967), the first professional designer of virtual reality (1971–73), and one of the first graphic designers to launch a design studio for computer graphics and user interfaces (1982). His award-winning work is in the collection of SFMOMA; Letterform Archive, San Francisco; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and BAMPFA, among other institutions.
