Tea Time Thursday: Sean Carson on Performance During Coronavirus
Open to Curator’s Circle members at the $1,000 level and above
Join a conversation with BAMPFA Program Manager Sean Carson—Stayin’ Alive: Performance During Coronavirus
When restrictions tied to COVID-19 forced BAMPFA’s temporary closure, the museum’s robust live performance programs came to a halt, as well. But thanks to ongoing dialogues between museum staff and artists, and their determination to continue engaging audiences with art, the museum developed new channels for curating and presenting performances. Through this initiative, poets, musicians, dancers, and other artists are responding to the pandemic and sharing work with BAMPFA audiences. Join us for a conversation with Program Manager Sean Carson, who will outline a brief history of live performance at BAMPFA and talk about the transition to online performances and readings, sharing a few favorite examples of work made recently for our website.
Sean Carson works in BAMPFA’s Education Department, supervising live performances as the museum’s program manager. He received his BA in mathematics from UC Berkeley and his PhD in music theory and composition from New York University. He is the cofounder of the Look and Listen Festival, an annual new music and art festival that takes place in New York.
This is the latest installment of our biweekly online conversation series for Curator’s Circle members, a collection of online events that offer insights from and Q&A’s with our curators. Please join us online at 4 PM every other Thursday for these intimate conversations.
This event is open to Curator’s Circle members at the $1,000 level and above. Space is limited, and reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Registered participants will receive an email with a secure event link on September 15.
Please contact Director of Special Events Masha Berek at mberek@berkeley.edu for more information or to register.
